2012 새해새소망/ MCC트랜스포트 Tim Wickmann, Chief Executive Officer

A year which has been very tough for container shipping lines is drawing to an end. It is a funny industry. One year, shipping lines are reporting tremendous profits, while the following year, it is all doom and gloom. I don't think any entity involved in container shipping, whether carriers, customers or suppliers, are benefitting from such volatile industry.

I hope the next year will bring a better equilibrium into the container trade so that income and cost of running the ships achieve a better balance. Then shipping lines can focus more on giving a good and predictable service to the benefit of all.

The way it works at the moment, there is always one party of the cooperation a lot "happier" than the other side. That is not good for partnership, something we in MCC Transport - "Your Intra-Asia Partner" care a lot about.

Personally, I have some strong wishes for what 2012 should bring. Besides success for MCC Transport, I hope to travel to at least 2 countries I have never been to before. I believe visiting other countries and experiencing other cultures is very important for the understanding of how the world evolves and behaves.

I have been to more than 40 countries already, but there are many more to explore and learn about. I also want to make sure I visit the Yeosu Expo 2012 which I have heard about for several years. I am sure it will be very interesting.

Having lived in Korea for about 5 years, being married to a Korean, and having visited at least 20 times, I more or less consider Korea my second home. Since I am very sports interested, it is actually great to have two countries as "homes" because then there are always two chances of success in many sports events.

I wish for great success in 2012 in all sports for any Danes or Koreans participating, most importantly that Denmark do well in football EURO2012 and that Korea continue a successful qualifying campaign towards the World Cup in Football 2014. I will never forget Gwanghwamun during the World Cup 2002 when I was fortunate to live in Korea. Let's see such success again.

Finally, I wish for great health for all my family members, friends and colleagues all around the world. May 2012 turn out to be a prosperous year for everyone in all aspects of life.
