Tariff Incomes Grow 7 Percent During First Half of Year
For the first half of this year, the cargoes Korean outgoing shipping
companies carried have decreased more or less in all trade routes. The
tariff incomes, however, have increased more than 7 percent, revealed
the report that the Korea Shipowner's Association released.
During the first half of this year, Korea outgoing shipping lines hav
e transported 240.13million tons of cargo, down 3.2 percent compared t
o the same period of last year. In the same period, they took in about
$5,315,258,000 by carrying the cargoes in the trade, up 7.4 percent o
ver the same period last year. These were caused by increased cargo vo
lume in some trades, and to a small degree, the price of oil. The grea
test contributor to the increase was the rates of vessel-charter.
