Wallenius Wilhelmsen welcomes the third mark IV RoRo vessel
MS TARAGO, the third Mark IV RoRo ship to join the Wallenius Wilhelmsen fleet, was named 12th January at a ceremony in Singapore by Mrs. Ingri Dyvik, wife of Nils P. Dyvik, Corporate Senior Vice President of Wilh. Wilhelmsen ASA in Norway. TARAGO was built at Daewoo Heavy Industries Ltd and will be deployed in Wallenius Wilhelmsen? round-the-world 120 day route via Europe, America, Australia and Asia.
The first port of call will be Inchon in Korea while the mix of cargo loaded will be a combination of high and heavy ro-ro-, breakbulk-cargo and cars. TARAGO has a total capacity of 5,310 cars.
The name "TARAGOO refers to a small place in New South Wales in Australia. In accordance with Wilhelmsen tradition ship names begin with a "T". The name has been used once before. The previous "Tarago", also a RoRo - vessel, was built in 1973 and sold in 1985.
The Wallenius Wilhelmsen fleet now consists of more than 60 PCC/PCTC, Conro and RoRo vessels. The planned fourth Mark IV will be delivered in late February.
