[ Inchon/Dalian car-ferry service to launch on October ]

Car ferry service between Inchon and Dalian is expected to be started
in October 1994 if soonest.
Korea operating compaies consisting of 22 domestic carriers concluded
a contract with Chinese ones being made up of 4 carriers for the joint
investment on the service at Ambassador Hotel, Seoul on May 20.
The vessel serving on the route is 8,000 gross tonnage with a capacity
of 100 TEUs and 500 passengers and is equipped with variuos convenien
t facilities.
This service will takes around 15 hours from Inchon to Dalian.
If this service will be launched, it will significantly contribute to
transporting trade cargoes effectively on the route and to activating
the tour between Korea and China.
In addition, economic cooperation between both countries will be much
more consolidated.
In the meantime, both governments have agreed to open car ferry servic
e on the route at the maritime meeting held in Seoul on February 1993.
