The Korea International Freight Forwarders Association (KIFFA) decided
to construct a tentatively named "Korea Freight Forwarders' Container
Freight Station" to use facilities at Kimpo Airport that will be effe
ctively idle due to the opening of the Inchon International Airport in
April of 2001, and to reinforce the role of freight forwarders.
Last July 13, the 4th board commission passed the project and entruste
d it to Kim Jeong-min, KIFFA chairman.
It began that the original functions of freight forwarders like storin
g, customs clearance, transportation, and cargo delivery, settled down
to dealing with import and export air cargoes quickly and smoothly. T
he association and association members, being stockholders, should sup
port the construction plans of the "Korea Freight Forwarders' Containe
r Freight Station".
In connection with this, KIFFA discussed these issues in the air trans
portation committee. KIFFA will provide potential investors with detai
led content regarding future plans and research on the proper suitabil
ity of the station.
The freight station is based on storage facilities of about 5,670 pyon
g. It will deal with import and export air cargo, handling, storage, p
acking ULD, and pallet working.
