NOL Will Commence a New Container Svc to Joint with ANL, Djakarta Lloy

Neptune Orient Lines Limited is pleased to announce that it will joint
ly with ANL Limited, PT Djakarta Lloyd, Nippon Yusen Kaisha and P&O Co
ntainers Ltd introduce a new container service between Australia and
South East Asia.
The new service, which will commence from 23 January 1997, will supers
ede the current service provided by the respective lines in the ANRO &
ASA consortiums serving the same route. The new service will feature
5 larger LoLo(Lift on - Lift off) wessels of up to 2,300 TEU capacity.
These wessels will be deployed on a 35 day round voyage schudule offe
ring weekly sailings from Sydney/ Melbourne / Adelaide / Fremantle / S
ingapore /Port Klang /Jakarta with Biwsbane and Tasmania being service
d fortnightly.
With the new service, the Line’s offer fixed day sailings and enhance
d thransit time with increased service speed of 20 knots. The service
also offer higher reefer capacity to cater for significant volumes of
time sensitive refrigerated exports from Australia. In preparing for t
he new service, smaller vessels(including 3 ANRO RoRo vessels)will be
phased out.
Members of our consortium are well known in the Australia and South Ea
st Asia trade and this new service demonstrates their continuned commi
tment in providing customers with a faster and more reliable premium s
ervice.
