Shipbuilding Orders declined to 3.3 Million G/T over Last Year.
Newbuilding orders secured by domestic shipbuilders by the end of Sept
ember were known to be plunged into 98 vessels of 3.34 million G/T com
pared with 158 vessels of 8.46 million G/T last year.
Recently, the Korea Shipbuilders’ Association analyzed that the above
decline stemmed from the labour strikes in domestic shipyards and gro
wth of Japanese and Chinese shipyards’ international competitiveness.
In the meanwhile, the newbuilding deliveries soared to 73 vessels of 3
million G/T over 54 vessels of 2.03 million G/T a year earlier and re
maining orders recorded 231 vessels of 11.53 million G/T.
