Evergreen launches new homepage on the Internet
with improved schedules, cargo tracking and bills of lading processing
Evergreen Marine Corporation (Taiwan) Ltd has launched a new homepage on the Internet (http://www.evergreen-marine.com). The new site, which will be interactive, will serve Evergreen services and customers worldwide and have enhanced functionality in areas deemed most important by exporters and importers as well as market demands.
This includes sailing schedules, tariffs, bills of lading processing, cargo tracking, vessel specifications, equipment type and availability, and a host of other informational and service features.
In the sailing section area, customers will be able to inquire long-term schedule of each service line as well as to inquire about up-to-the-minute point-to-point schedule.
For bills of lading (B/L), the new capability will allow customers to send B/L instructions by using an XML format. For web bills of lading, customers will be able to see and print B/Ls from the Evergreen web site. The system will also automatically display B/L numbers that belong to the login customer. In addition, Evergreen shippers can inquire regarding their cargo status at the same screen. The new Evergreen website is also able to send B/Ls via e-mail to customers directly, as well as allow easy reading of B/L clauses.
Cargo tracking is designed to allow customers to inquire on the status of their cargo status by using B/L or container numbers.
The Authorization feature will allow customers to register as members, to use advanced functions and to modify their own profile including passwords. Each company will have one administrator to manage the profile of users in their company. The site will also allow Evergreen personnel to examine and approve customers' registrations.
The Service Profiles features maps of every Evergreen trade route throughout the world while the Vessel Particulars page contains specifications of every Evergreen vessel. The Containers information site outlines equipment types, sizes and availability.
As part of an ongoing goal to keep customers well-informed about Evergreen and industry matters, a Press Releases page and Financial Report will make available all news information concerning Evergreen's worldwide activities and financial information. Highlights will give the latest industry news. In addition, a Company Profile features history and background of the Evergreen Group since its founding in 1968. Organisation information gives customers contact information for Evergreen offices and agents worldwide.
Contact Us gives users the ability to comment via e-mail on Evergreen services while Other Websites allows a wide variety of links to ports, terminals, government agencies, other transportation providers, vendors, and the websites of Evergreen offices and agents, among others.
An Evergreen spokesman stated:

The site went live on 1 March, 2001.
