Problems for Inchon Airport cargo handling system
One month ahead of opening, the Inchon International Airport exposed errors in its BHS (Baggage Handling System) handling cargoes and its FIS (Flight Information System), which informs on plane departures and arrivals, in a trial operation on February 27.
According to the Ministry of Construction and Transportation (MOCT) and the Inchon International Airport Authority on March 1, the BHS did not work well and in fact shuffled cargoes in the middle of the conveyor belt line, hindering the cargoes from properly being transported to the correct plane. Also, electric bulletin boards all around the airport failed to show the real plane departure and arrival information, only giving out the information already inputted.
Officials at the MOCT and the authority clarified, "the system was out so often because that operation day, they upgraded the BHS and commercial air plane company connection networks. All of these problems will be solved by opening day."
