Pusan excludes east Kamcheon harbor TFZ
One place among the west of Kamcheon harbor, Kamman terminal and the Pusan East Container Terminal (PECT) might be chosen as the Pusan preferential Tax Free Zone (TFZ).
The Port of Pusan TFZ planning team agreed to decide on one between Kamcheon harbor and the North container port as the preferential TFZ in the second meeting at Pusan Regional Maritime Affairs and Fisheries on the afternoon of March 2.
The planning team, however, pointed out that the east of Kamcheon harbor was connected by several highways to Songdo and might cause heavy traffic jams, if the facilities are established as TFZ.
The west of Kamcheon harbor, with 740,000 square meters, emerged as the most suitable place for the preferential TFZ without any logistic flow interference as it was made of terminal facilities and reclaimed land.
Among the North container ports, the Kamman terminal, with 1,015,000 square meters, or PECT, with 1,082,000 square meters, is going to be decided as the final preferential TFZ through on-the-spot probes on March 9.
As soon as the preferential TFZ is decided, the planning team will submit the official application to register it with the Ministry of Finance and Economy within this month.
