Liners and Shippers Interested in KASA Activities
KASA (the Korea - America Shipper? Association ), a group of shippers
in the international freight forwarders business, which officially st
arted business last May has set sail with a good wind.
As of June, 44 companies participating in KASA put the aim of getting
more reasonable rates in the Service Contracts with Ocean Carriers a p
riority.
According to KIFFA (the Korea International Freight Forwarders Associa
tion), 44 companies including Orient Express are in earnest, with 7 Li
ners making service contracts. KASA members are also cooperating with
one another and concentrating their energy on relations with liners.
This coincides with the very reason KASA was established. KASA was est
ablished to obtain space stability among liners and to make better ser
vice contracts with Non Vessel Operating Common Carriers (NVOCC). KASA
was created by the ?cean Shipping Reform Act of 1998 (OSRA), and co
nsisted of 37 companies at first, which dealt with the cargoes in the
U.S. trade.
