Dataworks and ShipNet merge shipbroking software
Leading maritime industry IT providers Dataworks(UK)Ltd and ShipNet As
have merged thier shipbroking software. The merger makes the Datawork
s/ShipNet alliance the dominant provider of shipbroking software world
wide, with such high profile clients as Clarksons and Galbraiths in L
ondon and fearnleys and Platou in Oslo.
Inge C.Paulsen Jr,director of ShipNet, says, “This merger is a natura
l development of the joint-marketing arrangement we began last year.Ou
r shipbroking packages already use Dataworks communications software a
nd our existing clients will benefit from the increased focus on this
area which Dataworks can bring.”
Lawrence Royston, director of Dataworks, says, “We will be upgrading
ShipNet SNIBS clients to the latest version of our software this year,
and will also offer them Dataworks 2000 Message Manager at a discount
. Together with ShipNet we are the only genuine one-stop shop for ship
broking and shipping software.”
Dataworks and ShipNet have a complementary product range. Dataworks wa
s founded in 1989 to meet demand for easy-to-use and cost-effective PC
-based Windows communications systems. Based in London, it provides so
ftware for message handling and shipbroking to more than 350 installat
ions through an International distribution network.
ShipNet’s main area of business is to provide solutions for shipowner
s and operators, liner companies and agents, and shipbrokers. Headquar
tered in Oslo, and with branch offices in Connecticut, Singapore and S
ydney, it has 240 installations in more than forty countries.
