KSA demands extension for ODCY
The Korea Shipowner's Association requested prolonging permission periods for three ODCYs (Off Dock Container Yard) in the Jaesong area because of Port of Pusan cargo congestion. The KSA said that to make the Port of Pusan a northeastern hub, it must investigate the lack of ODCY capacity and to do this it needs to have the permission period extended one more year for the three ODCYs in the Jaesong area. Because development of the north port in Pusan has reached its limits, it is essential to make an efficient endeavor for port operations and to keep the ODCY in its current state, explained the KSA. If not, it might provoke logistic chaos, the KSA added.
Container cargoes in the Port of Pusan grew 20% by September 1999 from the same period of 1998. This stands in stark contrast to the reasons presented for the building of the Yangsan ICD building in 1991, project results.
