HMM last trip to Mt. Kumgang June 27

Hyundai Merchant Marine (HMM) broke out of Mt. Kumkang business after its last operation to Kumgang June 27.

Regarding HMM and the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (MOMAF), Tonghae Regional Maritime Affairs and Fisheries unveiled that sooner or later HMM will request authority to transfer the Mt. Kumgang project to Hyundai Asan Corp. from HMM and that operating vessels be cut down to only one vessel from the present four vessels.

HMM will withdraw from Mt. Kumgang after 2 years and 7 months of operation if HMM's request is accepted.

"HMM operates the final sailing to Mt. Kumgang on June 27, and after that, Hyundai Asan will handle this project from July 2," a working level official at HMM said.

"Because the chartering period is not finished, three of the four cruise ships will be removed and re-chartered with other companies. Only the ‘Solbong-ho’ will remain in the Mt. Kumgang tour service", he added.
