"P&O NEDLLOYD COOK" to be named in Southampton
P&O Nedlloyd Cook, the last in the series of four new 6800 TEU containerships for P&O Nedlloyd will be named by Mrs Anne Jones, wife of Mr David Jones, Managing Director of Next, in a ceremony at Southampton Container Terminal on Berth 204-207 tomorrow.
With a length of 299.99 metres and a capacity of 6802 TEU the P&O Nedlloyd Cook is one of the largest containerships in the world with a service speed of 24.5 knots. She will be deployed in the Grand Alliance's Europe - Far East service and will sail under the British flag.
The ship will be named in honour of James Cook, the 18th century British explorer (1728-1779).
