Surfmarine, Maersk Sealand and MSC to begin new Safari service
A restructured SAFARI service, effective April 2002, will include safmarine, Maersk Sealand and Mediterranean Shipping Company.
The service will provide shippers with fast transit times on a fixed weekday schedule and will include direct coverage of Shanghai, as well as, a broad coverage of other Asian market.
The rotation in Asia will be Tanjung Pelepas, Hong Kong, Keelung, Busan, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Tangjung Pelepas before proceeding to port Louis, Durban, Port Elizabeth and Cape Town. Lines will offer extensive coverage from Asian origins not covered directly through their individual global network.
The start of the service will see Safmarine and Maersk Sealand providing three vessels each. MSC will initially provide one vessel followed by introduction of a second vessel by the end of 2002.
