“Hyundai No, 106”, belonging to the Korean shipping line, Hyundai Me
rchant Marine, recently moored at the Bremerhaven Car Terminal, 4100 H
yundai vehicles for the German market were on board. Such a large numb
er of cars had never discharged from a single ship in Bremerhaven befo
re.
The Korean shipping line HYUDAI regularly call at the seaport with the
ir big car transport ships. This year another 40 visits by Hyundai shi
ps expected in Bremerhaven, among them the newly constructed “Asian G
race”, whose capacity of 6000 vehicles makes it one of the largest au
tomobile carriers in the world.
Bremerhaven has already held the position of being Europe’s most impo
rtant automobile hub for many years now. In 1995 a total of 810,000 ve
hicles were handled at the Car Terminals. Exports and imports were vir
tually equal. The terminal operator, BLG Bremer Lagerhaus-Gesellschaft
, expects further growth in car traffis this year.
