[ HHI’s labor disputes settled by way of their mutual
agreement over wage hikes. ]
The 11-day strike has come to an complete end in the wake of their lab
or and management’s due agreement over wage increase and other working
conditions in the southern port Pusan.
In their 19th round of negotiations, both sides came to a compromise on
major issues, including a 7.4 percent rise in basic pay and the payment
of 500,000 won as additional bonus to all union workers.
The settlement came only one day after the government announced its in-
tention to take strong legal action against HHI union workers, who had
staged the strike at the shipyard since June 24, calling for higher wage
increase and immediate reinstatement of dismissed fellow workers.
