Ship security information delivered by online systems

From Jan. 1 domestic shipping companies can obtain ship security information online from Port-mis

The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (MOMAF) said it established the electronic system in ports nationwide to inform on ship security information according to the ISPS Code by using Port-mis, an online system.

According to MOMAF, by using Port-mis domestic shipping companies can reduce logistic and paperwork costs.

The ISPS Code became effective in July last year, and 24 hours before docking, a ship security grade must be informed to port authorities. Until now, most of them used fax. An insider at MOMAF said, thanks to improvements in information methods for ship security information, it could contribute to operational efficiency of port authorities and contribute to shipping company's convenience.
