Hamburg Sud & Alianca rationalizes its agency representation

From the end of March 2005 onwards, Hamburg Sud and its subsidiary Alianca Navegacao et Logistica Ltda will rationalize its agency representation in Korea.

Since the take over of the Kien Hung liner activities in April 2003, Hamburg Sud and Alianca have been represented by separate agencies. Dongshin Maritime Agency Co., Ltd. handled the Hamburg Sud Brand and Dongbo Shipping Co. Ltd. represented Alianca as well as Hamburg Sud in the transpacific trade. The initial advantage of having separate agencies for the 2 brands, have now diminished. Since both brands, which represent high quality and reliable services, are well established in the Asian markets, by appointing one exclusive agency that will represent both Hamburg Sud and Alianca, a lot of synergies can be achieved.

In Korea we have decided to appoint Dongshin Maritime Agency Co., Ltd. as exclusive agent representing both Hamburg Sud and Alianca. The transfer of the Alianca representation and transpacific service from Dongbo to Dongshin will take place end of March 2005. Separate letters informing about the vessels/voyages as from which the transfer will be effective as well as other details will be send to all customers.
