Korea Register of Shipping members among best for interruptions
The Korea Register of Shipping (KR) has recorded zero departure interruptions in the U.S. for the past three years.
KR has not had to deal with interruptions for any of their 446 member ships at inspections by the U.S. Port State Control (PSC), and has achieved zero percent interruptions by the U.S. PSC for three years according to data from the US Coast Guard, giving member ships of KR some of the very best vessel ratings.
The '2004 Tokyo MOU Annual Report' says that KR ranked the second best register for departure interruption proportions with 0.26% among IACS members.
The 2004 Tokyo MOU and U.S. Coast Guard stated interruptions for KR members at 0.23% and 0.7%, recording the best value among 57 member countries.
KR announced that it had fewer than 2.30% departure interruptions for three years since 2002 from the U.S. Coast Guard, and has been removed from their monitoring list.
One insider at KR said, "We have better performance for the U.S. Coast Guard and the Tokyo MOU thanks to the operation of special management vessels systems and a PSC preliminary inspection system."
