Hanjin Shipping launches Korea-Japan dedicated feeder service

Hanjin Shipping announced on August 14 that it is launching a dedicated feeder service between Korea and Japan starting from August 24th, 2008.

KJS (Korea-Japan Service) is a dedicated feeder service in which one 400 TEU vessel rotates between Busan-Tokyo-Osaka-Busan once per week.

The main purpose of this service includes promoting sales within Asia and reducing vessel operation times while transshipping local Japanese cargo to Europe and the U.S.

Hanjin Shipping expects KJS will minimize bottlenecks at Asian ports for the services that call in Japan. Also, transshipments at the company? dedicated terminal in Busan will be another benefit for the company as well as its customers.

Of particular importance, now instead of having to secure vessel space from feeder lines on a case by case basis, Hanjin Shipping have its own ship, enabling the company to provide customers with a stable supply of vessel space even during peak seasons.

The new KJS is just part of Hanjin Shipping? plans to expand its feeder network along with existing services in Persia, Singapore, Bangladesh and North China.<Korea Shipping Gazette>
