HMM and KMTC together Enhance Asian Market

Hyundai Merchant Marine (HMM) and Korea Marine Transport Corp. (KMTC)
announced June 1 that they agree to deploy three 1,200 TEU container v
essels into the Asian Market and develop new container trade connectin
g Korea and Indonesia.
Accoring to the joint announcement, KMTC will give two vessels and HMM
1 vessel. Port rotataion is Pusan/ HongKong/ Singapore/ Jakarta/ Sura
baya/ HongKong/ Pusan. This service will start on June 18, offering we
ekly fixed day service.
They are also going to prepare for the emerging Chinese market. As soo
n as they get the permission from Chinese adminstration, they will add
one more port in the South China trade.
Thereafter HMM and KMTC will run two routes between Korea and Indonesi
a. Both carriers have cooperated since April, 1998, deploying three ve
ssels in this trade. The port rotation is Ulsan, Pusan, Keelung, HongK
ong, Singapore, Jakarta, HongKong,Kelung, and Ulsan.
