Orient Overseas Container Line Ltd. (OOCL) is honored to receive the Gold Award in the Transport and Logistics sector at the Hong Kong Awards for Environmental Excellence (HKAEE) presentation ceremony held in Tseung Kwan O's Data Technology Hub on January 16, 2026. This is the fifth time that OOCL received this top honor, underscoring our long-standing commitment to environmental excellence.
The HKAEE is organized by the Environmental Campaign Committee (ECC) alongside the Environment and Ecology Bureau and in conjunction with nine local organizations including business chambers, industry bodies as well as social and environmental groups. As one of the most coveted environmental awards in Hong Kong, the HKAEE commends organizations that have demonstrated outstanding environmental performance under three judging criteria, namely green leadership, programme and performance, as well as partner synergy.
Over the years, OOCL has embedded sustainability into day-to-day decision-making, from fleet deployment to digital innovation. Our approach aligns operational efficiency with environmental stewardship and reflects our belief that long-term competitiveness is inseparable from climate action and responsible business growth. The Company has established a Board-level Sustainability Committee to steer strategy, monitor progress, ensure compliance, and facilitate the implementation of our long-term net-zero goals.
OOCL is furthering its commitment to sustainability by continuously investing in a modern, greener fleet and through offering green service, which includes but not limited to: investing in building 21 methanol dual-fuel vessels with a combined capacity of 427,000 TEU; the energy efficiency design index (EEDI) of our new vessels being at least 52% lower than the maximum allowable index set by the IMO; launching the OOCL Green service on OOCL FreightSmart to support customers' low-carbon supply chains; leveraging advanced AI tools from the Global Vessel Voyage Monitoring Centre (GVVMC) to optimize fleet operations and bunker consumption, supporting our decarbonization goals and enabling agile responses to evolving market trends.
