Cargoes to Seoul through Pusan fell by 3.4% in July
Container cargoes bound for Seoul metropolitan areas through Pusan declined in July.
The Korea Maritime Institute reported that cargoes between Pusan and the greater metropolitan Seoul area dropped by 3.4% year-on-year to 164,673 TEU.
By transportation method, trucking accounted for 73.8% of goods transported, railways 19.4%, and coastal transportation 6.8%. Though rail transportation has continued to decrease, land and coast transportation have picked up the slack.
Total land transportation slightly decreased by 0.7% to 121,591 TEU. Cargoes transported by rail totaled 31,919 TEU during July, a dip of 17.3% from last year.
In the mean time, Kwangyang to Seoul rail transportation marked 2,721 TEU on upward and 1,793 TEU on downward.
Coastal cargoes came to 11,163 TEU, up 17.7% compared to last year.
