Busan Port handles 11,441,563 TEU in 2004

In 2004, Busan port recorded cargo volumes up 12.9% compared to 2003.

According to Busan Regional Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, Busan port handled 154,455,000 tonnes, up 12.9% compared to 2003.

Among them, export cargoes were up 15.1% with 63,100,000 tonnes and import cargoes were up 11.5% with 92,355,000 tonnes.

By region, Busan port handled 24,579,000 tonnes of North American import and export cargoes, up 13.3%, China cargoes were 44,153,000 tonnes, up 14.9%, and European cargoes were 16,295,000 tonnes, up 18.5%.

Cargoes to Japan were 19,156,000 tonnes, up 13.2% and those to Southeast Asia were 16,608,000 tonnes, up 11.3%.

Busan port handled 6,068,000 TEU in Central and South American cargoes, up 20.6%. North Korean cargoes were up 121.1% thanks to rapidly increasing import cargoes.

Overall in 2004, Busan Port handled 11,441,563 TEU, up 9.9% compared to 2003.

Export cargoes were 3,297,831 TEU, up 9.7%, import cargoes were 3,276,279 TEU, up 8.2%, and transshipment cargoes were 4,762,397TEU, up 12.0%.
