Korean Carriers Made Big Revenues This January

The total cargoes imported and exported by korean carriers amounted to
42,884,000 tons, up 6.8 percent. Revenues amounted to $ 857,679,000,
up 4.0 percent over the same period of last year.
According to the Korea Shipowner's Association, korean carriers carrie
d 5,577,000 tons of export cargo this January, slipping 6.0 percent an
d earned revenues of $ 195,658,000, down 5 percent compared to the sam
e period of last year.
In the crisscross trade, they transported 12,507,000 tonnes and earned
$ 349,984,000, falling 20 percent and 14.1 percent, respectively.
Meanwhile, korean carriers in the inbound carried 24,400,000 tonnes of
import cargo and earned $ 271,627,000 increases of 33.5 percent and 5
2.6 percent, respectively.
Korean carriers earned $31,251,000 by releasing their own ships, showi
ng a 17.7 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
