DSME’s first VLGC named and recorded as the world’s largest
DSME has solidified its lead in the construction of gas carriers by completing the world’s largest LPGCs(VLGC) project. The project was undertaken with Exmar, which had a naming ceremony for its two vessels H.2315~6, 83.8K CBM VLGCs on the 6th of November.
At a joint naming ceremony at Quay E1, H.2315 received the name ‘Flanders Liberty’ from Mrs. Maudlin Rogge, mother-in-law of Ms. Barbara Rogge-Saverys who is the daughter of Mr. Nicolas Saverys, CEO of Exmar. H.2316 was named ‘Flanders Loyalty’ by Mrs. Barbara Rogge-Saverys.
The ceremony was held in the presence of almost 90 guests, including Mr. Nicolas Saverys, CEO of Exmar, and Mr. S. T. Nam, President & CEO of DSME.
This project is a strong indication of DSME’s reinforced competitiveness in the area of gas carrier construction in that DSME is the first shipbuilder to build the 83.8K CBM LPGC. This event consequently marks the first VLGC project for Exmar as well. DSME takes great pride in being able to share this landmark event with Exmar.
By securing these VLGC orders, DSME has showed its incomparable strength in the area of constructing gas carriers, having already well proven its performance with previous L-LNGC projects.
Delivery closing for H.2315 will be made at the end of this month, and as for H.2316, this will be at the beginning of the next year.
