Maersk Contractors names new state-of-the-art FPSO

On 2 February Maersk Contractors named the latest addition to the fleet of Floating Production, Storage and Offloading vessels (FPSO) from Keppel Shipyard Ltd. in Singapore.

The Sponsor, Mrs. Kim Spence, wife of Executive Vice President, Enterprise Capability, Woodside Energy Ltd., Keith Spence, named the vessel MAERSK NGUJIMA-YIN at a ceremony at Keppel Shipyard in Singapore.

The new FPSO is best in class and the biggest ever to work in Australia? The first assignment for the MAERSK NGUJIMA-YIN is with Woodside Energy Ltd. for the development of their Vincent oil discovery 50 km North West of Exmouth in Western Australia. NGUJIMA-YIN means ?o dream?in the Thalanyji language and has been chosen in consultation with the local Aboriginal tribal elders in the North West Cape area.

The FPSO will operate at a water depth of 350 metres on the Vincent field in Australia and is capable of handling a daily production capacity of 120,000 barrels of oil and 100 million standard cubic feet of gas per day. The storage capacity of the vessel will hold 1.2 million barrels of oil equivalent.

The delivery of the FPSO marks the completion of the conversion of the 308,000 tdw tanker vessel ELLEN MÆRSK into an FPSO, which started early 2007.<Korea Shipping Gazette>
