HHI builds jack-up platform
Hyundai Heavy Industries Co., revealed that it sent a jack-up platform for offshore liquefied natural gas (LNG) production to Indonesia March 27, 2001. It was ordered from Conoco Indonesia Inc., a U.S. based energy company, in April 1999 with a $130 million contract.
The platform, named 'Hang Tuah', was built 80 meters wide, 38 meters long, and 105 meters high, weighing 101,000 tons. It moves vertically according to the water depth. The 'Hang Tuah' will be installed in the 86 meter deep Belida Field, near Natuna island west of Indonesia by the end of May after 1 week of sailing.
HHI said that it would produce 6 million cubic meters of LNG daily, offering the Sembgas Consortium in Singapore for 22 years to use supply in power plants in Jurong areas in Singapore.
HHI also began installation of a 45-kilometer long pipeline to supply LNG in early March, this year.
