Emergency measure for LNG supply setback produced from Indonesia
As the activities of ACEH rebel troops in Indonesia prevented LNG in Arun from supplying, the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy (MOCIE) and the Korea Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) ordered a delayed vessel to arrive at the Port of Pyoungtaek on March 19, 2001, one-day later than scheduled, in order to acquire the materials for March. It also reached an agreement with Indonesia to change the loading port to Bontang from Arun as of March 13, loading on March 23, 9 days later than originally scheduled.
In addition, it will purchase an additional vessel volume of LNG from Malaysia, expecting arrival on April 8 to fill the April shortage. It is also considering whether to purchase gas that Osaka Gas Corp., Japan bought from Oman and offered to sell to Korea with April 5 as the arrival date. Other considerations include gas offered by Kasai Electronics, with an expected arrival of April 3, and gas from NWS Corp., offered for arrival in Korea on May 2.
By this emergency plan, 200,000 tons will be secured, a stable level for operations until mid April.
