Hanjin Shipping Earns Record Net Profits

Hanjin Shipping recorded record net profits for the first half of this
year. On August 4th, Hanjin Shipping released data that for the first
half of this year, it took in 2,047.5 billion won and made an ordinar
y income of 90.7 billion won, a sales income 145.4 billion won, and a
total net profit 60.7 billion won. Hanjin Shipping expects that it wil
l earn record-breaking profits for this year as the net profit of the
first half broke their previous record. It also hopes to make an estim
ated 3.45 billion dollars in sales by employing strategies of high pro
fit, low cost, and increased cargoes as the global economy recovers. P
rofits were vastly improved over those of the same period of last year
, 11.4 billion won. Hanjin attributes these advancements to the compan
y's management renovation and steady sales activity. A Hanjin spokespe
rson said that they carried 1.97 million TEU containers, occupying 4 p
ercent of the global container transportation market. Hanjin expects t
o transport 2 million TEU containers per year as it carried 1 million
TEU containers in the first half of this year.
