Trains carrying cargoes increase by 74%
Tremendous cargoes have been handled at the railway station in the Po
rt of Kwangyang.
Kwangyang City hall announced their survey results as of Nov. 2000; 1
02,918 TEU of cargo went through, an increase of 74% over the previous
year. The railway station opened Dec. 1998 to support the container p
ort with an inland transportation network system. It was equipped with
6 railways, 1 Transfer Crane (T/C), and a Rail Crane in a 54,318 pyou
ng (1 pyoung equals approx. 3.3 square meters) yard, with 11 companies
taking part in transporting cargoes. Currently trains go between Kwan
gyang and Uiwang 16 times a day.
