Panalpina acquires logistics company
Panalpina, the forwarding and logistics group active in 65 countries,
acquired Avalog AG at the beginning of this year. Avalog, which is hea
dquartered in Glattbrugg, near Zurich, formly belonged to SAirLogistic
s, a member of the SAirGroup.
Avalog is a supplier of logistics consulting and management services a
nd its activities in this field include the development of IT products
. The company’s role in the Panalpina group will be to design and imp
lement new logistics and supply chain management solutions.
“The acquisition of Avalog marks the continuation of our strategy of
qualitative growth.” explained Bruno Sidler, President of Panalpina’
s Executive Board and CEO. Silder went on to say that Panalpina would
continue to systematically expand its leading position as a supplier o
f complete logistics solutions and for this reason Avalog was a perfec
t fit with the rest of the group. According to Avalog’s managing dire
ctor, Marco Blum, who retains his position after the acquisition, “th
e Panalpina Group offers Avalog an ideal environment in which to apply
and further develop its logistics competencies.”
