Yangsan Inland Container Depot Opened on April 1

Yangsan Inland Container Depot (ICD), the biggest inland container dep
ot in South Korea, began work as of April 1. It was built, at a cost
of 339 billion, for the purpose of improving the logistics system of t
he Pusan container port and reducing traffic congestion in downtown P
usan.
The Container Yards (CY) and some Container Freight Stations (CFS) wer
e completed. Other CFSs and the railroad transportation system, howeve
r, which are scheduled to be completed in 2002, are under construction
.
As a result, among 42 Off Dock Container Yards (ODCY) in downtown Pusa
n, 9 CYs in the Suyoung district were closed on April 1, 4 private CYs
in the Imhang district will be closed at the end of this year and 13
CYs at the end of 2001.
