Korea Express and Daewoo Information Launches Online Allocation System
Korea Express strategically teamed up with Daewoo Information Systems
on August 1st to launch an online Cyber Transportation Allocation Syst
em onto the market. It is expected to be helpful to shippers and trans
portation companies allowing them to easily check cargoes and vehicles
that they want through the Internet, downsizing logistic expenses and
increasing working efficiency.
Still now, most shippers have to go through brokers two or three times
to book trucks, eating up commissions. Transportation companies are u
sed to carrying container cargoes from Seoul to Pusan, and returning t
o Seoul empty, which greatly increases transportation fees.
Customers will also be able to access information about traffic, weath
er, insurance, distribution, and other logistic information through th
e Internet.
The Cyber Transportation Allocation System that Korea Express and Daew
oo Information Systems developed together could supply a tracking syst
em for transport trucks in real time with the help of cellular phones
and GPS devices (Global Positioning System), locating transports quick
ly and efficiently.
Korea Express and Daewoo Information Systems expect that up to 55 perc
ent might be saved in one-way 15-ton cargoes by using the Cyber Transp
ortation Allocation System.
