Import shippers don't have to go to customs office
The Korea Customs Service has completed an electronic customs clearance system for import and export cargoes, getting rid of customs office visits from 2001.
Since 1996, the KCS has pushed for a paperless EDI (Electronic Document Interchange); shippers have had to visit customs offices to receive import tax bills.
The KCS, however, now provides import tax bills, the final stage in import electronic customs clearance, electronically as of January 1st, with import shippers able to handle import processes in their own offices.
