Pan Ocean Recorded the Top Number of Vessels

Pan Ocean Shipping Co. owned the greatest number of vessels in Korea
as of March. According to the Korea Shipowner's Association, Pan Ocean
Shipping Co., the biggest irregular container shipping company, domin
ated the top of the market by possessing a total 53 vessels including
4 regular vessels and 49 irregular vessels. Among the following, Hyun
dai Merchant Marine (HMM) had a total of 51 vessels including 19 regul
ar vessels and 32 irregular vessels, Hanjin Shipping had the greatest
number of regular container ships with a total of 45 vessels of 21 reg
ular vessels and 24 irregular vessels.
On the other hand, HMM ranked number one in terms of gross tonnage (g
/t) and dead weight tons (dwt). It reached 3,475,579 tons in g/t and 4
,328,809 dwt. Hanjin followed with 2,533,351 g/t and 3,587,041 dwt. Pa
n Ocean, had the greatest number of vessels, recorded at 1,534,343 g/t
and 2,682,137 dwt.
As of March, the number of Ocean-going carriers's regular ships and i
rregular ships totaled 116 and 294, respectively.
