Panalpina receives top honors for air freight and heavylift forwarding

Panalpina was acknowledged this week in London as Air Freight Solutions Provider of the Year, as well as Project/Heavylift Forwarder of the Year, by one of the freight forwarding industry's most prestigious awarding bodies. The recognition by Lloyd's Global Freight Awards indicates Panalpina;s proficiency and know-how in freight and logistics.

"Air freight and projects - particularly in the oil and gas industry - are deeply ingrained in our company DNA."

The award for Air Freight Solutions Provider of the Year recognizes the end-to-end capabilities and potency of Panalpina's air freight service. One example of this success that was presented to Lloyd's judges was the story of the company's work with an international toy company just before Christmas. The customer required urgent stock of thousands of toys, which were destined to become presents for hundreds of European children, to go from Los Angeles to Cardiff, Wales. With no capacity on passenger flights from Los Angeles to London, Panalpina's Air Freight teams jumped into action and formulated a plan to get the cargo to Wales in the quickest time possible. Panalpina quickly deployed six trucks to drive 2,000 miles across the US in freezing blizzard conditions to the company's Air Freight gateway in Huntsville, Alabama. From there, the toys embarked on Panalpina's 'Dixie Jet'service.

The cargo was fed onto four freighter flights to London. With trucks waiting, the toys were immediately delivered directly to Cardiff for on-time delivery - resulting in a merry Christmas for all involved.
