Tariff income increases by 11.3%

Coming into this year, tariff incomes of Korean ocean-going shipping
companies rose greatly.

The Korea Shipowner's Associations released reports showing that carg
o throughput for nine months slid by 3.6% over the same period of last
year to 350.33 million tons in cross trade as well as trades to and f
rom Korea.

Tariff income, however, climbed by 11.3% to total approximately $8.32
billion. This accounted for successful rates recovery in some trades,
sharply increased tanker tariffs, and chartering incomes as well.
