Government to Pay for 3% of Expenses of Cargo Entering Ports
Sea freight/passenger carriers and agents which pay for the expenses o
f cargo entering ports in place of shippers, could have their expenses
remunerated by the government. Paying 3% of the expenses of cargo ent
ering ports, the government could cut down their administrative expend
itures by 1 billion won a year. Port users, could also save money. Thi
s law will be effective beginning in August, when advanced legislation
notice is finished.
The government, also mandates that the owners of unloading equipment h
ave to report to competent authorities if they install or remove the
port equipment. The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (MOMAF)
authorities said that the bigger vessels are, the more security there
needs to be with bigger and faster port equipment. The authorities ma
ndated that equipment facilities be inspected by themselves through th
e amendation of port laws.
