Panalpina Acquires Stake in GlobalFreightExchange
Panalpina, the forwarding and logistics group, has acquired a stake in
GlobalFreight Exchange (GF-X), the internet-based wholesale airfreigh
t marketplace. Commenting Panalpina' investment and its role in the pi
lot programme, Panalpina CEO Bruno Sidler stated that the company is c
onvinced that GF-X will become the leading online platform for trading
airfreight capacity. "Moreover", added Mr.Sidler, "our customers w
ill highly benefit from substantial productivity gains achieved by bot
h Panalpina and carriers."
GF-X is launching a wholesale marketplace for the airfreight sector. T
he company recently announced that nine airlines and eight forwarders
would be participating in a three-month pilot programme beginning in M
ay.
