Cargoes Drastically Dropping in PECT because of Strike
Container vessels in the Port of Pusan continued to increase and outgo
ing container cargoes increased sharply.
The Port Authority of Pusan reported that the overall number of ships
that entered the port amounted to 11,879 a 10.2 percent rise over the
same period of last year.
HTOC (Hyundai Terminal of Containers) had a total of 373 ocean - going
vessels from January until April, growing by 30.4 percent. Kamman sho
wed a 44.6 percent increase, holding 431 vessels. On the other hand, P
ECT (Pusan East Container Terminal) fell by 6.7 percent to 251 vessels
due to the strike of the stevedoring union.
Meanwhile, Ocean-going container cargoes in the Port of Pusan reached
32,474,000 tons over 4 months from January to April , rising 17.4 perc
ent compared to same period of last year. Inbound cargoes rose 35 perc
ent to 17,330,000 tons and outbound cargoes were up 2.2 percent to 15,
