E-Business International Forum Held

An E-Business International ForumO was held in the Sheraton Walkerhil
l Hotel on August 21st, hosted by MOICE (Ministry of Industry, Commerc
e and Energy). President Kim Dae-jung, was in attendendance and in key
note speech said that the world economy is now under a whirl of renova
tion with the Internet and E-commerce at the center. He detailed the K
orean Government? progressive strategy at the forum.
President Kim said that E-commerce will span across all business secto
rs and E-commerce support centers will expand to close the thechnology
gap between metropolitain and rural areas (for on-line business). He
committed the government to supplying E-commerce venture businesses wi
th strategic support, hoping to build them as strong forces for the Ko
rean economy? growth. The Korean government will raise about 500 bill
ion won for venture investment and 100 billion won for exclusive M&As
this year. For all of these things, an e-business cooperative associat
ion will be established in which conglomerate groups, venture business
es, and small to medium sized groups dealing with the Internet and E-c
ommerce can participate together.
