Yangsan ICD handled 570 thousands TEU for a beginning year
Yangsan ICD (Inland Container Depot) recorded processing around 570 thousand TEU in its first year since being launched, 2000, beyond previous expectations.
The Korea Container Terminal Authority and Yangsan ICD Corp. announced January 10th in the report "Activating plans for Yangsan ICD" that it surpassed the previously estimated projection of 140,000 TEU, reaching 569,695 TEU since it opened last April.
This result accounted for the rising demand for container yards, the Port of Pusan increasing container cargoes 17% over the previous year, and the acquisition of immediate facilities for Container Freight Stations (CFS) to classify container freight and stevedore. This year, Yangsan ICD anticipates recording 1 million TEU and approaching handling 100 thousand TEU per month, a proper cargo handling level for Yangsan ICD as it handled 86 thousand TEU in the last month. This year as it is scheduled to acquire three additional CFSs and a third highway will open, in and out of cargoes as well as recycling containers will be increasing. An official of Yangsan ICD said that if railways and CFSs were completed it would be possible to operate on track.
