RCL launches service into Southeast Asia
Regional Container Line (RCL, general agency in Korea: Woori Shipping) kicks off its solo Southeast Asia container service beginning June 25.
Woori shipping said in a press release June 18 that it started the service alone as its cooperation contract with K-Line expires when the 'YANTRA BHUM' [RS5]enters the Port of Pusan on June 25.
According to this reshuffle, the schedule will not change as it enters Pusan every Monday and leaves early every Tuesday morning. Three 1,400 TEU vessels, the 'GANTA BHUM', 'HUNSA BHUM, and the 'YANTRA BHUM' will be added in this trade.
The Port Rotation is as follows:
Pusan - Sanghai - Hong Kong - Singapore - Manilia - Pusan
Transit cargoes bound for South China will be transshipped in Hong Kong, while cargoes bound for elsewhere in Southeast Asia, West Asia, and the Middle East will be transshipped in Singapore.
An official at RCL said, "When we were serving under the cooperative service agreement, we suffered from a lack of capacity. However, this time around, we can afford to offer an improved capacity, 250 TEU every calling for shippers, and are now able to ship large cargoes as well as SOC cargoes."
