Over 70% of cargoes moving by road
Inbound and outbound cargoes in metropolitan areas through Pusan totaled 956,116 TEU in the January to June period, a 3.9% decline compared to 995,433 TEU a year ago.
Even though road transportation is increasing, railroad and coastal transportation has dropped over the same period of the last year.
Through overland transportation in the first half this year, containers took 72.9% of total cargoes, or 696,962 TEU. This represents an increase of 3.2% percentage over 69.7% in the same period a year earlier.
On the other hand, railroad and coastal transportations stepped down to 20.7% or 197,785 TEU, and 6.4% or 61,369 TEU, respectively. These figures showed a drop of 2.8% and 0.4% from 23.5 % of total domestic cargoes and 6.8% in 2000.
