Korea and Japan launch first inter-country EDI
Although EDI’s are nothing new to e-commerce, EDIs that integrate systems in different countries are.
The EDI system, a trading document handling process, will be adopted for the first time between Korea and Japan.
The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy (MOCIE) revealed that it agreed to introduce the EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) system for trade handling processes with Japan in a "2nd Korea Japan E-commerce policy council" held in Cheju on October 9.
They agreed to put it into use temporarily for automobile parts by February next year. To link e-marketplaces together, they announced that they will work on instrument and electronics standardization, and setting up a database (D/B) environment as well.
The two countries presented the same views: Korea and Japan will be the example to spread e-commerce throughout Asia.
"Besides e-commerce, both sides are considering a way to implement the e-Trust mark and Online Shopping Trust mark to increase credibility in international e-commerce," revealed MOCIE.
