Green Carrier expands in Scandinavia
GreenCarrier Scandinavia AB, the fast-growing freight forwarding subsidiary of Sweden’s Bjrk.Eklund Group, is to open four new offices in Sweden during March and April 2002. These will be located in Lule, Skellefte, Kalmar and Karlstad. Initially, the four offices will employ between 20 and 25 staff while additional appointments in existing GreenCarrier offices have boosted staff numbers to almost 90 people.
Headquartered in Gothenburg, GreenCarrier Scandinavia already has branch offices in Stockholm, Linkping and Helsingborg as well as in Bilbao, the location of GreenCarrier Scandinavia’s partner, GreenCarrier Espaa.
Per Gillstrm, the recently-appointed Managing Director of GreenCarrier Scandinavia, explained that the new offices will provide a personalised service for local shippers:
“We will offer a single point of access to a wide range of air, sea, road and rail services. Together, we will determine the ideal transportation options for individual traffic movements with due consideration being given to transit times, safety of the cargo and costs.
“The term ‘personalised service’ is the key to our business philosophy. There has been considerable consolidation and cost-cutting in the Scandinavian forwarding industry and many shippers, especially those small to medium-sized companies, have told us that they are not getting the level of service that they once took for granted. GreenCarrier is determined to keep alive the forwarder tradition of offering sound and unbiased advice to importers and exporters and to handling their shipments with care and professionalism.”
The Bjrk.Eklund Group is currently diversifying and has plans for expansion during the course of this year. Currently, it comprises of six companies, namely GreenAir Scandinavia AB, Green Carrier Scandinavia AB, Green Carrier Espaa SL, GreenShip Sweden AB, Svensk Logistik Partner AB and Scandinavian Shipping Agencies AB. Further companies will become operational in Norway in March 2002.
