Chinese carriers will become competitors in 10 years, responds Hanjin
Hanjin Shipping employees pointed out that Chinese shipping liners will appear as the most likely challengers in about ten years.
Hanjin Shipping unveiled survey results from about 300 employees where 75.6% of the respondents answered that Chinese Shipping Liners such as COSCO or the China Shipping Group will become serious competition in ten years. They picked European carriers such as P&O Nedlloyd and Maersk-Sealand as current competitors with 48% sharing that opinion.
They also responded that good rates and languages skills will be necessary to improve company and individual competitiveness, respectively.
Most respondents predicted that e-commerce in the shipping industry will expand by over 30% in five years.
An official at Hanjin Shipping said, “We surveyed to find ways to strengthen competitiveness and to examine current conditions. The survey results will be reflected in the mid and long term strategies of company.”
